Lyon deny claims of Juninho – Sabri Lamouchi double-ticket hiring

Olympique Lyonnais moved last night to deny claims made by L’Équipe that they were negotiating the potential arrivals of Juninho as General Manager and Sabri Lamouchi as 1st team coach for next season.

RMC report that Lyon President Aulas was in Los Angeles last week, for a business meeting. Juninho, who has undergone a very difficult period in Brazil after his public outbursts against new president Jairo Bolsonaro now lives in part in the United States. Aulas profited with a meeting. Juninho was silent when contacted by RMC for a period of 12 days, before finally assuring the outlet that there was “nothing concrete,” adding “we will speak only after the season!” Several months ago, the Brazilian refused an offer from Jean-Michel Aulas for a position at Lyon that has not filtered through.

Sabri Lamouchi in the meantime, recently represented by Jorge Mendes, was supposed to be on RMC show Footissime on Monday night but pulled out a few days before the show, apologising and explaining that it was because of a “professional meeting”.

President Aulas is in charge of everything in terms of finding Bruno Génésio’s successor. The manager has not been offered a contract to become Sporting Director of Lyon and he does not want to be and is of the mind to cut things off with Lyon when his contract expires next month.

In terms of Laurent Blanc, the Lyon President is not totally against his potential arrival but there are doubts about his working methods. Other club representatives are more strongly against a Blanc appointment, because of the uncertainty regarding his eventual assistant. The Lyon board is not particularly enthralled by the prospect of Franck Passing joining Blanc.

L’Équipe report that Lyon continue to dream of bringing Arsène Wenger in, but that it is not yet clear if the former Arsenal man is genuinely interested in the position.
