Pence Returns Friday To Speak At Evangelist's Memorial Service

ATLANTA, GA — Vice President Mike Pence will visit Atlanta tomorrow for the second Friday in a row, this time to rally small-business owners and to attend a prominent evangelist’s memorial service.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Pence’s return gives the White House a way to support Gov. Brian Kemp and his approach to reopening Georgia in the face of coronavirus restrictions.

It may also be a scouting trip: On Tuesday, Gov. Kemp volunteered Atlanta to host this year’s Republican National Convention after President Donald Trump threatened to pull it from Charlotte if North Carolina’s Democratic governor couldn’t guarantee “full attendance.”

Pence will speak at a memorial service for prominent Christian evangelist Ravi Zacharias, who died May 19 of cancer. The service will be livestreamed from Alpharetta via Facebook and YouTube.

When Pence visited Atlanta on May 22, he congratulated Kemp for being among the first governors to lift pandemic restrictions.

“I think history will record that Georgia helped lead the way back to a prosperous American economy,” Pence said last Friday, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
