Vogue editor dispels footballer’s wife rumours

Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman in an article in The Daily Telegraph, stated that Wayne Rooney’s (footballer’s) wife, Colleen McLoughlin, did not pay to be featured in the May issue of Vogue, as was rumoured.

The rumours, which circulated amongst the gossip tabloids, were keen to portray Colleen as a shopaholic chav, who wanted to change her image to something more glamorous, consulting Vogue magazine for a little help along the way – and paying to have new photographs taken.

Shulman said Vogue approached Colleen not in an attempt to feature her as a style icon, but rather as a contemporary, young fashionable girl, with her own taste in clothes and who, as a result of the paparazzi, has been constantly in the limelight for her love of shopping and expensive, if sometimes, dubious taste. The May issue of Vogue is out next week.
