Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman together in one HBO miniseries? Count us in. Ahead of the Dec. 19 premiere of the network’s limited series Big Little Lies, HBO released the full trailer for it Thursday, showing both of the actresses delving into the dark suburban world of a California city.

In the clip, InStyle‘s December cover girl (Madeline) and Kidman (Celeste) can be seen welcoming young mom Jane (Shailene Woodley) into the community with sweet smiles and conversation during a sit-down. “You’re so nice,” Dana says. “This is Monterey. We pound people with nice,” Madeline replies. “To death,” adds Celeste.

But, while all seems well in Monterey, things quickly take a turn for the dark as the trailer progresses, with members of the community revealing that Madeline isn’t the sweetheart that she pretends to be. “Ticking bomb: I’ll leave it at that,” one parent says.

Meanwhile, Celeste can be seen canoodling with Alexander Skarsgard, much to the chagrin of community members who think “he’s much younger than her.”

And that’s just the beginning of the drama in the dark comedy, written by David E. Kelley of Ally McBeal fame (there are whispers of murder towards the end of the clip).

In addition to Witherspoon, Kidman, and Woodley, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, and Zoe Kravitz also star in the series, which premieres Feb. 19 on HBO.
