Jérôme Boateng and Houssem Aouar set to return to the fold at Lyon

L’Équipe are reporting that the sacking of Peter Bosz and the arrival of Laurent Blanc at Lyon could lead to the returns of Jérôme Boateng (34) and Houssem Aouar (24).

Boateng has yet to feature for Les Gones this season, whilst Aouar hasn’t played for the club since coming off the bench on the opening day of the season. However, Blanc’s arrival could signal increased game time for the pair.

Boateng’s return to the fold could be facilitated by moving Thiago Mendes (30), who has been playing at centre-back, back to his more accustomed midfield position. Boateng claims he is physically ready to contribute to the side, whilst Sinaly Diomandé is also wanting to have a chance to impress the new manager.

Aouar, who has been frequently linked with a departure from the Ligue 1 club, is also hoping for a new lease of life. Speaking to L’Équipe last week, he said that he was becoming impatient with his situation at the club, adding that like Boateng, he was physically ready despite the lack of game time.
