Official | Marseille sign Spanish goalkeeper Rubén Blanco

Marseille have this evening announced the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Rubén Blanco on a one-year deal loan deal from Celta Vigo, after the 26-year-old successfully passed his medical.

Blanco is one of three signings to have been made official by the club tonight, with French international wing-back Jonathan Clauss as well as Colombian forward Luis Suárez also completing their moves from Lens and Granada respectively.

The former Spanish youth international leaves his formative club in Galicia for the first time in his career, effectively joining as a replacement for Steve Mandanda, who left for Rennes earlier in the summer window.

He will compete with his compatriot Pau López for a spot in the Marseille goal. Overall, Blanco played nearly 150 games in nearly a decade with the first team, never quite imposing himself as the undisputed starter.

Foot Mercato add that the second-placed Ligue 1 side have including a permanent option in the deal, with the goalkeeper having recently extended his contract with his parent club up to 2027.
