Marie-Antoinette Katoto extends PSG contract

As reported by Le Parisien, PSG’s star striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto (23), whose contract was due to run out this summer, is set to extend with the club for a further three years. The decision is by no means a surprise as last Thursday, the 23-year-old revealed to the publication that she had made up her mind, having considered a new adventure with domestic rivals Lyon.

Katoto, who happens to be the top scorer in the history of the Paris Saint-Germain women’s team, will therefore remain in the capital until 2025. The news is certainly encouraging for Les Parisiennes, who were pipped by Lyon in both the league and the Champions League last season. PSG eventually came second domestically, and were knocked out of Europe in the semi-finals by OL despite goals in both legs from Katoto.

The news of her extension comes just a week before the start of the Women’s Euros, the preparations for which are in full swing. Having beaten Cameroon 4-0 in their first warm-up, Les Bleues are set to face Vietnam, before their first group game against Italy on July 10th. Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who has scored 18 goals in 22 international appearances, is likely to play a significant role in the tournament.
