OGC Nice President Jean Pierre Rivère gave a muddled response on RMC to rumours linking Mario Balotelli to the club, only adding fuel to the fire that the Liverpool striker could be joining Les Aiglons before the window shuts next week.

“Apparently, I say apparently because I have not seen him, Mario Balotelli has been on the Côte d’Azur in recent days, or yesterday. You have to ignore the rumours, you have to be careful, you should not always put two and two together. There you go, aside from that for me rumours in the transfer window I do not comment on them, I just let things happen.”

“He is a player that I do not know so it is difficult for me to have a judgment on a player that I do not know. Aside from that, he is a great player, we all have problems in life. Then people are making links, we had Ben Arfa, that went well, we are going to get Balotelli… We are not experts in players who are having difficulties to then give them a chance.”
