TB Infected Elephants At Rajasthan’s Amer Fort Not To Be Used For Tourist Rides

Rajasthan government has directed the Department of Archeology and Museums to segregate, quarantine and ensure that elephants found to be suffering from tuberculosis are not used as rides at Amer Fort.

The move has comes after a plea from animal rights groups including the Humane Rights Society International/India(HSI), People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India had sought the intervention of the Union Government to prevent an outbreak of tuberculosis – which is highly contagious and transmissible from elephants to humans.
