This weekend in Italy was played the last round in regular season. We know all the results and the formula of the playoffs.
Goodbye, Padova. Goodbye, Ravenna…
CMC Ravenna gained in this season only 15 points, even the last victory 3-0 over Sisley Belluno didn’t allowed them to save chances to stay in Serie A1. In Padova, after a defeat 2-3 with M.Roma Volley, the home team has to say goodbye to Serie A1 and next season will fight in Serie A2.

Changes in the first foursome
3 rounds ago Itas Diatec Trentino was sure of the first place in the classification after regular season. This weekend won in straight sets over Andreoli Latina that ended on the 9th position. Lube Banca Marche Macerata gained 2 points in the match against Marmi Lanza Verona and took the 2nd place above Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo.
Decisive last round
1 point achieved by Verona in Macerata allowed them to stay in Serie A1. The last round was decisive also for San Giustino, that winning 1 point with Piacenza and with a little “help” of Padova, that lost its game, can celebrate not to be relegated in Serie A2.|

The new formula of playoffs
12 teams qualified to the Quarters are divided in 4 pools and every pool will play a mini-tournament with host from a better position in the standings after the regular season.
The pools are composed following the classification after the regular season:
Pool A: 1st, 8th, 12th (played in Trento, 1st in the standings)
Pool B: 2nd, 7th, 11th (played in Macerata)
Pool C: 3rd, 6th, 10th (played in Cuneo)
Pool D: 4th, 5th, 9th (played in Belluno).
In the Semifinals there will be two duels: winner of Pool A will play against winner of Pool D; winner of Pool B will challenge winner of Pool C. Who win 2 matches on 3 in every duel will be promoted to the Final game, V-Day Sustenium.
The Quarters will be played between 7th and 9th of April, the Semifinals between 12th and 18th of April. The Champion of the Italian Serie A1 Sustenium we will know on April, 22th in Milan.
