With the recent return of Paige and the call-up of five of the women from NXT (Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, and Sarah Logan) there were rumors that the WWE was planning a women’s royal rumble of some sort, however the Wrestling Observer reports that is not the case. A women’s rumble is not being planned for the January Event or at all really. As has been reported earlier this week. The going story is that Vince himself felt the women divisions of both shows had grown stale and the mass call-ups were to try to remedy that. There have also been rumors, even amongst those in the WWE that calling up so many names at once might mean that some women in the WWE may not be with the company much longer. Only time will confirm if there is anything to that fear.
Last week, Paige returned after a long absence along with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to Monday night RAW, then the next night in a very similar fashion on Smackdown Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan made their main roster debuts.
The Royal Rumble will take place on January 28 from Philadelphia.
