Asked Again About 2020, Sanders Denounces Media Obsession with "Never-Ending Campaigns"

“The media never, ever gives up, and instead of focusing on real issues, they keep talking about never-ending campaigns,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) told journalist Chris Cuomo in a Thursday night interview on CNN, when Cuomo asked whether he will run for president again in 2020.

“We just had an election six months ago,” Sanders continued, emphasizing that it’s too early to say whether he’ll run. “People are sick and tired of it; they want me to go back to Washington, to deal with climate change, to deal with healthcare, to deal with education, to deal with the issues that impact their lives.”

Sanders appeared on CNN to discuss Hurricane Harvey disaster relief, President Donald Trump’s response to Charlottesville, legislative battles in Congress, and his new book, Bernie Sanders Guide to Political Revolution.

Throughout the interview, the senator advocated for transforming the U.S. energy sector to rely on clean energy sources; improving public infrastructure across America; implementing a Medicare-for-all national healthcare system; peacefully protesting white supremacy; and “the need for millions of people to become involved in the political process,” which Sanders says in the message of his new book.
