Aleister Black Likely Off of NXT TakeOver; WWE Writes Him Out With Injury Angle

— As noted before, Aleister Black suffered what appeared to be a groin injury at a recent house show that will require surgery, putting his participation in the NXT title match at TakeOver in serious jeopardy. It was unclear if he would be able to wrestle as there were conflicting reports on the severity of his injury, especially with WWE not making any official statement on the matter.

— The company clarified the situation somewhat last night as after the weekly NXT show was concluding, GM William Regal was talking about the upcoming triple threat match at TakeOver when a production assistant came and told Regal that something had happened out in the parking lot. When Regal followed the assistant there, he saw Black laid out on the ground unconscious. Johnny Gargano was seen in the area, The Undisputed Era drove away from the scene of the crime and Heavy Machinery were loitering around taking pictures of Black so the tease is that any one of them could be potential suspects. Footage below.

— While WWE has yet to confirm what will happen of the triple threat match that was made official after today’s TV show, it appears there is a very good chance that Black will miss the PPV, hence the reason WWE played out the injury angle to explain his likely absence and the need to change the title match.
