As promised, WWE issued a statement on the controversy surrounding the Reid mentions during the Charlotte and Paige WWE Survivor Series contract signing at Monday’s RAW.

According to WWE, the idea to use the Reid mentions as part of the storyline was in fact Charlotte’s idea. It was actually taken out of the show originally, but she was reportedly insistent that it be put back in, which it was.

WWE’s statement reads as follows:

Subject matter this personal is only approved as a result of the strong advocacy of the talent themselves. Notwithstanding that, WWE is ultimately responsible for what airs in its programming.”
