As seen on WWE Raw last night, Stephanie McMahon announced the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match will take place at WWE Royal Rumble on January 28th in Philadelphia.
With all the recent talk surrounding Ronda Rousey’s “imminent” WWE debut, speculation abounds that the former UFC Champion will be making her WWE debut in the Women’s Royal Rumble match next month.
Although Rousey debuting with WWE in the Royal Rumble match has not been confirmed, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio this morning that there are those in WWE, who will be competing in the Womens’ Rumble match, that are under the impression Rousey will be in the bout.
“I don’t know she’s in the Royal Rumble”, said Meltzer. “I do know that some of the competitors that are in [the match] are under the impression that she’s in. I do know she’s been training a lot. The original idea [for WrestleMania 34]was The Four Horsewomen [of MMA]vs The Four Horsewomen [of WWE], and that would be [Rousey’s] debut. And the Royal Rumble would not be the case, so we’ll see. It’s certainly a rumor going around, that’s for sure.”
