With his time in Mexico all but over, a return to France now appears to be on the cards for Florian Thauvin. The winger’s contract with Tigres was terminated – ostensibly unilaterally and much to his consternation, having been denied access to the club’s training ground. Mexican media outlets have indicated that the Frenchman was present with his lawyer, and that his compatriot André-Pierre Gignac came to speak to him. His two-year spell in Monterrey saw him find the net eight times in 38 appearances.

L’Équipe have mapped out the potential destinations for Thauvin, as he eyes a return to France, with Nantes considered the most suitable option – Les Canaris are clear of the relegation zone for the time being and are gearing up for a Europa League knockout clash against Juventus next month.
