Lorient consider loan move for Lyon’s Romain Faivre

Lorient are reportedly considering a loan move for out-of-favour Lyon attacking midfielder Romain Faivre (24), Goal are reporting.

The former U21 French International joined on last year’s January transfer deadline day for an €18m fee from Stade Brestois. Faivre has failed to live up to expectations as neither former OL manager Peter Bosz nor incumbent Laurent Blanc have seemed to greatly rely on him. The 24-year-old’s contract with Lyon expires in 2026.

The French midfielder has played only ten games this season, registering only one assist. On Saturday, he was not part of the squad that fell at home against Strasbourg (1-2). Faivre looks set to leave the Groupama Stadium side sooner rather than later as head of recruitment Benoît Cheyrou has opened the door for a possible transfer, and Goal claim that talks have started this Wednesday between Lyon and Lorient. Les Merlus would prefer a loan move whereas Les Gones would favour a transfer. The former Brest man is also attracting interest from Lille, although L’Équipe state that Faivre is keen on a return to Brittany.
