Kylian Mbappé on equalling Zlatan Ibrahimović in PSG goals: “I knew I would quickly get to this position.”

Speaking in the wake of Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 win over Saint-Étienne last night, Kylian Mbappé notably commented on his two-goal performance seeing him draw level with Zlatan Ibrahimović in the all-time club scoring charts.

His words transcribed in RMC Sport, the Frenchman, who hit 156 goals with the club, pointed out that he still had Edinson Cavani on 200 to catch up with.

“When you know what Zlatan did here, it’s symbolic. These are high standards, we’re in an exclusive circle. I’ve managed to equalise with him, and unless there are any issues I think I’ll overtake him. There’s still Edi [Cavani] remaining [ahead]. We’ll see how things go. But obviously being PSG’s all-time top scorer is nothing to be scoffed at, so we’ll see what happens.”

“I’m not top, I’m only the second, I had to remain concentrated on scoring goals. I knew I would quickly get to this position. Now I’m there. The most important thing is to remain concentrated on the games to come. And if I remain concentrated, I’ll score goals.”
