Marseille manager Franck Passi and President Vincent Labrune have managed to convince French midfielder Jordan Veretout, after a series of phone calls, to join the club on loan for the forthcoming campaign, according to L’Équipe.

The details and structure of this loan agreement are not yet clear. However, the French daily newspaper claim that Veretout seems set to join Marseille this weekend, after a final friendly match between Aston Villa and Nantes.

Real Betis have however in recent hours made a concrete approach to the player, and have a window now to persuade Veretout to move to them instead.
