Arsenal propose salary offer to Djibril Sidibé

According to today’s edition of L’Équipe, Premier League side Arsenal have presented Lille full-back Djibril Sidibé with a salary offer.

The news comes after Arsène Wenger launched a late offensive for the player who had already agreed to join AS Monaco on a five year deal.

Arsenal have not entered into fee negotiations with Lille at all, whereas AS Monaco have virtually agreed a deal worth €15m to sign the player, which includes Rony Lopes going the other way on loan.

Arsène Wenger directly opened communication with the player’s entourage at the beginning of this week, and that is why Sidibé is currently hesitating. The player will decide ultimately. If he gives Arsenal a positive response, and an answer of some sort is expected today, then the Gunners will make a bid.

If not, the player will join AS Monaco as planned.

In recent weeks, both Southampton and Watford have approached the player. Yesterday, Monaco representatives met with Sidibé’s reps to discuss whether or not his situation had changed in Marseille for France vs Germany.

Monaco want this deal to be done, we will know more in the coming hours.
