Environment Ministry Asks States And UTs To Avoid Single-Use Plastic Material During 2019 Elections

In order to curb pollution during preparations for Lok Sabha elections, the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has asked states and the Union Territories to avoid single-use plastic for preparation of polls.

The ministry has also asked them to find an alternative material for the election campaigns.

In a letter to all the states and UTs, C K Mishra, Secretary, MoEFCC, has asked to completely phase out single-use plastic from India by 2020.
