ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon Reveals £20,000 Challenge Prize

Runners taking part in the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon on 8th April 2018 will be competing for a new prize fund worth £20,000.

The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon, which is organised by Xtra Mile Events in partnership with Trafford Council, has revealed the fastest male UK athlete who manages to beat 2:10:00 and the fastest female UK athlete who breaks 2:26:00 will be awarded £10,000.

The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon has also introduced an International Prize Fund, with prize money up for grabs for the first three male and female international runners to cross the line.

These new awards are in addition to the £8,500 prize pot available to male and female British elite runners who finish in the top five places.

Nick Rusling, CEO of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon and Manchester Half Marathon, said: “We are delighted to introduce the £20,000 Challenge prize fund for super-fast elite runners that break these times.

“This, in addition to the new International prize, confirms our ambition to make the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon a truly inspirational part of the running calendar and Manchester fitness scene. We are proud of our reputation for being the UK’s flattest, fastest and friendliest marathon and these prizes demonstrate our commitment to raising the bar for those who join us in April.”
