Update: WWE Extreme Rules Multi-Man Match Cancelled After Contractual Issues w/ Brock Lesnar

Last week it was announced that a Six-Pack Challenge match would take place at next month’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view, with the winner getting a future title opportunity against WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Both Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley were confirmed for the bout, with more to be added at a later date.

On tonight’s episode of WWE Raw, on-screen authority figure Kurt Angle announced that the multi-man match at Extreme Rules is now off, claiming that negotiations with Lesnar for his next title defense have fallen through. A singles match between Reigns and Lashley was teased, but at this point nothing is official.

We reported earlier today that Paul Heyman’s recent social media rant was a part of the story leading to Lesnar backing out of his contractual discussions. The story they are going with is that the champion isn’t impressed with any of the competition currently being presented to him, and thus will not bother showing up to work until a suitable replacement has been found, instead focussing on outside opportunities.

In reality, plans for the Beast Incarnate have not changed, as he still has one match remaining on his contract and will be defending the title at SummerSlam, with the top prospect being either Reigns or Lashley, keeping in mind Braun Strowman with the men’s Money in the Bank briefcase.
