Roman Reigns Talks Facing Drew McIntyre, Wanting Dean Ambrose To Stay, More

Roman Reigns recently spoke with Inside The Ropes to promote Sunday’s WrestleMania 35 and he talked about his ‘Mania opponent, Drew McIntyre and more.

On having a changed perspective and looking after himself:

“It’s been a crazy few months, there is no doubt. It’s hard to create moments like this, especially after what has happened the past six months. I think, where I am at in my career, kind of having a second chance to do what I love my perspective has changed a little bit, the things I used to stress about are not quite as big as they used to be.

“I think before I was in a position, and not that I am not anymore, but I was leading, I was looked at as a locker room leader, sometimes you can put yourself on the backburner and for me with this new perspective I have to take care of myself. It’s been a very eye opening event and to have that support system and people all over the world reach out to me, it really made me feel like I wasn’t alone, especially with a subject I was very insecure about.”

On announcing his Leukemia battle on live TV:

“It was frightening, I was terrified and at this point I don’t really get nervous about much, they’ve thrown me in the fire so I have got pretty used to managing that stress but I was just scared that I wanted to be perfect. To share something personal about yourself can be scary but I felt like I did the right thing.”

On Dean Ambrose leaving WWE:

“I want him to stay, Dean if you’re listening don’t go! I will buy you a bottle of beer and Jack every singe night. We just want him to be happy, the selfishness in us wants him in the locker room but as a friend and as a brother I just want John to be happy and if he has to recharge his batteries, I want him to be where he wants to be so I support him fully. Ambrose is a workhorse and I don’t throw that term around lightly, he is one of those guys I can depend on 52 weeks a year.”

On getting to work with an upcoming talent at WrestleMania 35:

“To be able to mix it up with someone from my generation and who is in my locker room that I can see is putting in the work and taking the proper steps to get to be in the main event picture it makes me really proud. I am grateful for the matches I have had in the past, but this is something I can really hang my hat on and I am passionate about it because this isn’t about servicing a guy helping me out. We are going to go out there and help each other out.”
